Starting tomorrow: Bike to Work Week means great rides, events and prizes

Tomorrow is the first day of Bike to Work Week!

The challenge is on

At the stroke of midnight tonight, all commutes logged on the Bike Commuter Challenge website will be for keeps. Companies from all over Chicagoland will be duking it out on two wheels for recognition as greenest and healthiest. And it's not too late to join! 

Go to www.bikecommuterchallenge.org to sign up your company or join your company's team already in progress — it's easy and free! All you have to do is log at least one bike trip from June 9-15, even part way, to participate. src=http://www.activetrans.org/sites/default/files/member-shirt_mockup.jpg

All team leaders are invited to a VIP awards party on July 11 at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, which includes after-hours access to the museum's new Bikes! exhibit, featuring Chicago's rich and storied bicycle history.

And that's just the beginning

Starting Monday, June 11, through Thursday, June 14, stop by one of more than 30 Bike Pit Stops and Bike to Metra Station events!

Get some air for your tires, free coffee and Clif bars, and say hi to some of our volunteers and staff! We'll be offering an exclusive t-shirt (see right) for becoming a member or renewing your membership at the $35 level or higher, too.

Great events

In addition to the Bike Commuter Challenge and the Bike Pit Stops, Bike Chicago and Active Trans have a number of great events planned, including spinning classes every day under Cloud Gate at Millennium Park, a special outdoor showing of Pee Wee's Big Adventure, a loop bike tour, a film festival, happy hours and more.  

There's also, of course, the Chicago Bike to Work Day Rally, 7:30-9:30 a.m. in Daley Plaza, when thousands of happy Chicago cyclists will converage to celebrate the best way of getting around Chicago!
