REI awards Active Trans 10K to support bicycle safety!

REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.), a national outdoor retailer, provided more than $84,000 in grant funding to 11 nonprofit partners in the Chicago area. Each year, REI supports community organizations that help people experience, restore and enhance the outdoors through its locally driven grants program.

For the third straight year, REI has chosen the Active Transportation Alliance as a recipient of one of its nonprofit partner grants. With their generous $10,000 dollar grant to support our Volunteer Ambassador program, we will be able to continue providing volunteer-led bicycle safety training programs throughout the Northeast Illinois region.

REI continues to be a fantastic partner in our mission, not only due to their financial support but also their shared vision of a healthy and active population in the region and all the internal classes and events the stores host to support active and healthy lifestyle choices.

Thanks a ton, REI!
