Did You Know?

Roughly every three days, one person biking or walking is killed by someone driving a car in the Chicago region.

Help us park bikes and eat sandwiches!

In our fun city of neighborhoods, no Chicago summer is complete without fun times at street fests.

And one of the ways that Active Trans likes to encourage clean, active transportation throughout the summer months is by offering a bike valet at major events!

Various summer event organizers hire us to provide free, secure bike parking for their patrons.

The money Active Trans raises with this program goes right back into our work of making Chicagoland a better place to ride, walk and take transit.

At this time, we are looking for volunteers for our first two events – Blues Fest this weekend (6/8-10) and the Bike to Work Rally next Friday (6/15). Volunteer with us for 4-hour shifts.

And it’s not required that you bring a bike or even that you ride one on a regular basis – just that you are willing to be friendly with the public and help us to check our patron’s bikes in our corral.

All volunteers get a free meal (usually a sandwich or pizza) during their shift. Plus, you will be helping to make it possible for hundreds of people to ride their bikes to events that they may not otherwise attend.

If you can lend a hand for better biking in Chicagoland, please email Katie at bikevalet@activetrans.org.
