Federal Update
Congress continues to deliberate the new surface transportation bill. Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) has come out in support of a two year bill to focus on economic stimulus. But the House and Senate are not in agreement. In the meantime, Congress has passed a temporary extension to the current bill to last until mid-December. The good news is that this extension continues funding for Safe Routes to School, Transportation Enhancements and other programs important to Active Trans.
