DuPage pedestrian dies in DUI-related crash

Donna Early, 69, was struck and killed by a driver on Sunday, July 3, as she and her husband William walked home from the Eyes to the Skies festival in Lisle.

Mrs. Early was hit at about 10:13 p.m. as the two tried to cross Yackley Avenue during a break in traffic. The driver was charged at the scene with aggravated DUI and taken to DuPage County jail to await bond court.

The Earlys were heading home to the Steeple Run subdivision in neighboring Naperville when Donna Early was struck.

They were avid bikers who had ridden in Bike the Drive in 2005. Said Mr. Early, “We shared a love of biking, and we love this community and we love our neighbors. We enjoyed the whole community, and I am going to miss her everyday.”
