Did You Know?

People walking are five times as likely to be killed by a driver traveling 30 mph as one going 20 mph.

Commuter challenges aren't just for bikes

For more than 20 years, the Active Transportation Alliance has been organizing the annual Bike Commuter Challenge in celebration of Chicagoland's Bike to Work Week during the month of June. Now, for the first time, you can participate in multiple challenges throughout the year that allow you to choose from different modes of sustainable travel. /

Drivelesslivemore.com is a year-round competition that allows you to sign up, track your trips and get points you can use toward great monthly prize contests. Offering individual incentives and competitive, team-based challenges, the program is completely free to use for everyone, including workplaces like yours. To learn more, read our post from earlier this month.

The inaugural Employer Challenge – TransitWorks – debuts at www.drivelesslivemore.com, on Saturday, December 1, at midnight. Create a team for your office or join an existing team today! (And be sure to take a look at the teams that have already signed up.)

As the name implies, TransitWorks will count transit trips recorded on the interactive commute calendar at the website and rank teams based on participation, very similar to how the Bike Commuter Challenge works.
