This article, Reinventing America's Cities: The Time is Now, written by NYT’s architecture critic Nicolai Ouroussoff, discusses the connection between land use and transportation infrastructure and investments. It also highlights some of the key debates about urban planning in general. Community and transportation plans really have no teeth unless they have funding and political and community support. Without this commitment to implementation, a plan is, in essence, just a document that risks being put on a shelf to gather dust.
