Did You Know?

Only 24 percent of jobs in the region are accessible by transit in 90 minutes or less by a typical resident — and that number drops to 12 percent in the suburbs.

Active Trans lands Urban Citizen Award

Last night, Active Transportation Alliance was presented the Urban Citizen award by the Illinois chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism. /We always knew that cyclists, pedestrians and transit riders make good urban citizens. Now Active Trans is an award-winning urban citizen.

The award was given in recognition of Active Trans' efforts with the Communities Putting Prevention to Work intiative, which is helping more than 20 suburban communities become more walkable, bikeable and transit friendly.

We are very proud of the new policies and plans that have been adopted by these towns and school districts. Thank you Congress for New Urbanism!
