Reimagining Navy Pier (part two)
Today, Navy Pier Inc. selected James Corner Field Operations as the design consultant for the re-design of Navy Pier.
A few weeks back, we reported here about our concerns of how Navy Pier is disonnected from the Lakefront Trail and Chicago neighborhoods.
The selected firm was one of the principal consultants on New York's High Line, a rail-to-garden project that is renowned for its innovative use of urban space.It turned a defunct rail line into a thriving linear park.
We hope that the designers of Navy Pier will use similar innovation to make the pier a destination for all Chicago visitors and residents.
