Did You Know?

The Chicago region’s current hub-and-spoke transit system leaves nearly half a million Cook County residents stranded in transit deserts.

Cyclocross returns to Montrose Harbor

Cyclocross returns to Chicago on Sunday, December 5, 2010. The Illinois Cyclocross State Championships will be held at Montrose Harbor in the culmination of the most successful season ever for the Chicago Cross Cup series.

Record attendance and crazed fans have helped push this season beyond the incredible heights reached last fall, and cylocross is now the “it” sport for amateur athletes. Beginners and pros bump elbows on the sidelines and in the race, and if you have ever stood near the course tape at a sharp turn, you know that cyclocross is as much a contact sport for the fans as the racers.

Registration is online and open for all, with one-day licenses available. The first race begins at 8:45 am.

Bring your camp chairs and thermos of something hot, or a cooler of something not. Do not forget your cowbell, and be ready to make as much noise as possible. With Active Trans’ annual winter celebration, the Bike Town Bash, the night before, you can worry about sleep on Monday and make this the ultimate cyclist’s weekend of the year.
