On October 28 and 29, I attended a workshop called Designing Streets for Pedestrian Safety sponsored by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP). The workshop addressed pedestrian safety issues through design and engineering solutions. It was a very informal and a great experience!
When I'm out in the field leading a Better Blocks Workshop, a lot of traffic engineering questions come up like “Why can’t the city put a bumpout here on the corner? or “Why can't we have a traffic circle here?” Now that I’ve attended this workshop, I'm able to explain some of the technical considerations.
Thanks CMAP! You made my work a little easier!
