Volunteer Funding and Complimentary Youth Entries Available for Bike the Drive

CHICAGO — July 21, 2025 — On Sunday, August 31, 2025, thousands of people on bikes will have free reign on DuSable Lake Shore Drive, all in support of the Active Transportation Alliance’s work to make Chicagoland safer and more equitable for biking, walking, and transit.

New and Expanded Ways to Get Involved:

>> Support Your Community as a Volunteer Group: Charitable and community organizations are invited to bring volunteer teams and earn donations—$250 for 8–14 volunteers and $350 for 15 or more. Volunteers will play a vital role at checkpoints, rest stops, and the bustling festival in Butler Field.

>> Youth Group Scholarships: To expand access, 200 complimentary Bike the Drive entries are available for local youth organizations that couldn’t otherwise participate. Each group needs a chaperone, and applications will be accepted until August 16, or until all spots are filled.

About Bike the Drive
Bike the Drive is a scenic, non-competitive ride. Cyclists can enjoy as much of the 30-mile lakefront course as they like, with rest stops, rider support, and majestic city views.

Registration fees support Active Transportation Alliance’s year-round advocacy for better biking, walking, and transit region-wide.

Helmets are required, and all skill levels are welcome. With a tradition of inclusivity and a mission-driven focus, Bike the Drive offers people a memorable and meaningful way to kick off Labor Day weekend.
