Nearly five children are hit by people driving every day in Illinois while walking or biking within one block of a school.

Was a great weekend for biking in Schaumburg

The sun shone brilliantly in Schaumburg on May 18 — a perfect day for National Bike to Work Day.

To celebrate the day, Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson rode to work on his tandem with village staff and community members.

Active Trans joined the ride and explored the wonderful bike facilities in Schaumburg that wind through parks and a variety of neighborhoods. Schaumburg Bicycle Club members and members of the city's safety patrol joined the ride, as well.

Then, two days later, 232 bike people toured  the town on the Farrad Tour Von Schaumburg Bike Ride. Keep biking Schaumburg!

In case you haven't heard, the bike commuting fun in the region is far from over. In fact, it's just heating up.

The region's big event, the Active Trans-sponsored Bike Commuter Challenge, is happening during the week of June 9-15. Create a team at your workplace or join an existing team and compete for bike commuting dominance. Either way, it's time to start rolling!
