Walking school bus in Mount Prospect District 57

Students from Mount Prospect's Fairview and Lions Park elementary school have been taking the src=http://www.activetrans.org/sites/default/files/photo%2835%29_0.JPG“walking school bus one day each week this spring.

Here’s how it works: Parent leaders walk with a group of students to school to ensure the kids' safety and increase the amount of exercise they get in their day. Students meet friends, exercise and to start the day off ready to learn.

We’re happy to report that the school district and the village partnered with Active Transportation Alliance to develop school travel plans that helped pave the way for the walking school bus program.

Congrats to Mount Prospect students, parent leaders, families and teachers.
