Walking, biking events this weekend and next week

So many wonderful things coming up in Chicagoland for walking and biking! Here’s our picks for this weekend and next week:

  • Moving Design, a wonderful artistic effort surrounding safety, livability and more hosts their closing party, auction and demonstration (check out the great image from their work).
  • On Saturday and Sunday, enjoy Oktoberfest at St. Alphonsus in Lakeview. There are 100 free tickets for people attending on bikes. Stop by and see our friends West Town Bikes!
  • In Streamwood on Sunday, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation hosts its inaugural Cycle For Life ride with 25- or 65-mile routes or head a bit south of Springfield for the Tour de Coal.
  • On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the Southland gets moving with Mark Fenton, international walking superstar. Come take a walk and help improve walking and biking in Tinley Park, Lemont and Blue Island. These walkability workshops will be the basis for Active Transportation plans for these communities!

Added bonus:
Ron Burke, Active Trans executive director, and Dan Persky, our director of policy and planning, will be speaking at the Lake County Bicycle Club meeting in Libertyville Tuesday evening. Join them to learn about walking and biking efforts in Lake County.
