Did You Know?

The Chicago region’s current hub-and-spoke transit system leaves nearly half a million Cook County residents stranded in transit deserts.

Thanks Wall Street Journal

Is it really possible that this month I'm thanking both Illinois Dept. of Transportationand The Wall Street Journal

src=http://www.activetrans.org/sites/default/files/5624627045_2ec26ebf4e_b.jpgMonday's issue of the Journal had a special section about challenges facing the transportation industry. The main article made the point that all transportation projects should be given equal consideration, and that road projects are given unfair advantage by federal regulations.

Hold on a second. Is that possible? The ultra-conservative (some would say libertarian) Journal supports equal treatment for transit projects?

Well, there you have it. Pigs can fly and the Journal actually does supports public transit.
