Did You Know?

Bus riders account for more than 20 percent of people using Lake Shore Drive every day while taking up a fraction of the space that cars do.

Share your thoughts with CTA about the new Train Tracker

Wondering when the next CTA train is coming down the tracks? Well, now you can find out—and you can help the CTA improve this new service.

Similar to the CTA Bus Tracker launched several years ago, the CTA Train Tracker allows CTA users to check the CTA website for the next arrival times. Customers using computers or smartphones can see estimated arrival times for trains on all eight rail lines.

CTA hopes to receive plenty of public feedback during this pilot phase. To provide feedback, you can take an online survey or send in questions, comments and suggestions to feedback@transitchicago.com.

As part of the pilot project, electronic signs at 10 CTA stations feature arrival times either on the platform or mezzanine levels.

According to the CTA, the Train Tracker arrival times are generated through a combination of scheduling information and data collected by the CTA’s QuicTrak program, which monitors train signals and indicates when a portion of track is occupied by a train. The CTA Bus Tracker, on the other hand, uses GPS devices aboard buses to keep track of bus locations.
