Chicago’s first protected bike lane on Kinzie St. increased ridership by 55 percent without increasing traffic congestion for cars.

Ridership survey first step for new Metra leader

No doubt, the first couple of days on the job have been tough for Alexander Clifford, Metra's newly hired executive director and CEO. Nothing like leaving L.A. and arriving in Chicago for one of the city’s biggest snowfalls on record.

Clifford previously worked for the Los Angeles County Transportation Authority, where he was head of the high-speed rail division.

Clifford said he is coming to Metra with a reform agenda and plans to work on restoring public confidence in the agency by instilling strong financial and management controls. For his first order of business, Clifford is asking Metra riders to complete a brief survey to share their ideas for improving Metra.
