By now you have seen the good news that Gov. Pat Quinn signed HB 43 into law. That law requires motorists to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks.

Today, Gov. Quinn also signed HB 5096 into law. This bill, sponsored by Rep. Tom Cross (House Minority Leader) clarifies Illinois law to ensure that users of wheelchairs are granted the same rights as pedestrians. It also requires the Secretary of State to revise driver licensing exams to ensure knowledge of the law.

Thank you Gov. Quinn for making July 22, 2010 a great day for pedestrians in Illinois.
