This winter, Greenline Wheels in Oak Park is hosting a bi-weekly series of cycling clinics on various subjects.

The clinics, called Teach Me Tuesdays, will be held every other Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. starting January 5 and running through March 29. Each clinic will be about an hour long.

Here's the schedule:

Jan 5: Fix A Flat: Don’t let a flat tire ruin your day! Learning to fix a flat tire is quick and easy. We will teach you the skills you need, and you'll learn about the tools to take on your ride, and we'll make sure you leave feeling confident about riding by yourself.

Jan 19: Cold Weather Cycling: Winter in Chicago doesn’t have to keep you inside. Biking in winter can actually be fun when you’re prepared for it. Join us at Greenline Wheels for a free clinic on how to keep warm, keep safe and keep rolling through the colder months.

Feb 2: Cycle Touring (REI)*: Taking an overnight trip by bike is an incredibly fun way to travel. For a novice, though, it can be intimidating. Let REI demystify overnight bike touring by teaching you how to select routes, pack your bike and make your ride as comfortable as possible. (Please register with REI for this clinic.)

Feb 16: Women and Cycling (Women Bike Chicago): Join Women Bike Chicago for a relaxed social engagement followed by a film screening and discussion.

Mar 1: Drivetrain Maintenance: Your drivetrain is arguably the most important part of your bike. A mechanic from Bike Fix Inc. will be presenting with clinic on how to keep your drivetrain in good working order.

Mar 15: Commuting by Bike: Riding your bike is more than just fun. Commuting by bike can save you time and money, and reduce stress. Join us for a clinic on the ins and outs, tips and tricks of commuting by bike.

Mar 29: Maintenance 101 (REI)*: Routine bike maintenance keeps you riding smoothly and prolongs the life of your bike. Join REI for this introductory class to help you take care of your bike! (registration link to come.)

* For the two REI-led presentations on Feb. 2 and March 29, participants are asked to register beforehand on the REI website.

Each of these free clinics will be held at Greenline Wheels in Oak Park at 105 S. Marion St. Except for the REI-led clinics, no registration necessary. For more information call, Greenline Wheels at 708-725-7170.

This past August, management of Greenline Wheels was shifted over to Active Trans in order to expand bicycle outreach and education in Oak Park and the surrounding neighborhoods.
