Roughly every three days, one person biking or walking is killed by someone driving a car in the Chicago region.

Coalition takes a creative approach to bike advocacy

A coalition of designers and artists called Moving Design is calling for passionate thinkers and creative people to take part in an experimental workshop to enhance the bikeability of Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood.

/In 12 sessions over six weeks during the summer, participants will convert design into tangible and real social currency. Active Trans is serving as a partner with this project.

The coalition will focus on active mobility in Logan Square, allowing it to serve as a model for other neighborhoods intent on improving quality of life, public safety and health and community cohesion across the city.

Apply now. (A tuition is required for all participants.)

The workshop runs from July 18 through August 28, 2011, Mondays and Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m., culminating on Sunday, August 28, with Active Trans' Four Star Bike Tour.

Visit Moving Design's website for more information on its initiatives, issues, past projects and on how to be a part of the coalition's fresh approach.
