Did You Know?

Nearly five children are hit by people driving every day in Illinois while walking or biking within one block of a school.

Chicago Sun-Times supports protected bike lanes! Have you signed on in support yet?

You may have noticed the recent anti-bike rhetoric published in the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune, calling protected bike lanes bunk and a giant waste of money, and ranting against the city’s insane number of crazed bike riders.

We are encouraged to see that following our letter to the editor and Mayor Emanuel's press conference on Sunday, the Chicago Sun-Times has today offered some public support for the City's plans for protected bike lanes with an editorial titled, City's new bike paths point in right direction.

We need to keep up the positive momentum! Have you signed our petition in support of protected bike lanes in the Loop yet? We need all the people we can get to stand up in support of the protected bike lane on Dearborn, and more like it! Please sign on today.

The Chicago Sun-Times also offers an important reminder to people who bike: Don't take the city or the media's support for granted. We need to make this work. We need to be good stewards of the city's big investment in bike-friendly streets by riding courteously and following the rules of the road. And we need to speak up together to make our voice stronger!
