Chicago man killed in Cicero

Jesus Escobedo was killed Saturday when a car hit him as he was crossing the street. Chicago Tribune's Mary Schmich wrote a touching story on his life yesterday. The story gives us a better idea of who this man was — more than just a pedestrian. The pedestrians killed each year in the city also have lives, they are people with families, friends and hobbies just like all of us.  
 
And this fatality was no accident. It is one in a hundreds of preventable deaths we will see in Illinois this year that are caused by driver inattention.
