Celebrate Steve Buchtel at the Buchtel Bash & Roast

After 17 years of dedicated service, Steve Buchtel is moving on from Active Trans.

In recent years, Steve served as Active Trans' Southland coordinator. Prior to that, he served in a variety positions when the organization was called the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation.

Steve leaves behind a rich legacy at the organization, and will be dearly missed as one of Active Trans' most dedicated, passionate and creative staffers.

Steve is leaving Active Trans so that he can focus on his new exciting role as the executive director of Trails for Illinois, Illinois' state-wide trail advocacy organzation. From now on, you can count on seeing him all over the state — not just in the Southland.

Join us at the Buchtel Bash & Roast this Friday, March 9, starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Local (22 E. Hubbard St.). Around 4:45, the celebration will head to the Metra Electric Line (no bikes allowed) to take the 5:30 train to the Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery in South Suburban Flossmoor for more merriment.

RSVP on Facebook.

Selected “roasters” will share stories and jokes about Steve — at Steve’s expense, of course. (Some of them will even sing his praises as they stand in awe of his mystical trail building powers!)

In Steve's absence, the wonderful, spirited and go-getting Leslie Phemister will be taking on Southland duties at Active Trans. Please connect with her at lesliephemister@activetrans.org.

Steve, it's been great working with you…thank you, sincerely!
