Celebrate Bike to School Day May 8

On May 8, 2013, schools and youth organizations across the country will be commemorating National Bike to School Day. First celebrated last year, this event provides a great opportunity to highlight the benefits of biking to school for students and staff alike. Students can enjoy the benefits of increased activity and reducing greeenhouse gases while having fun riding a bike!

/Active Trans has a great collection of resources and lesson plans teachers and staff can use to help students learn about safer walking and biking as they prepare for Bike to School Day. Get ready — warmer weather is sure to be upon us in the coming weeks.

Additionally, Active Trans is offering schools a small treat — mini Clif Bars — to hand out to students biking to school. If your school is holding an event and is looking for a small reward for students biking to school, get in touch with Active Trans at education@activetrans.org.

If you are a parent or work in a school or youth setting and are interested in organizing a Walk to School Day event, please visit www.walkbiketoschool.org or e-mail education@activetrans.org to learn more.
