Carol Stream bicyclists seek input for new trail

A small but passionate group of bicycling advocates in DuPage County envision a new multi-use trail through the heart of their community. The Klein Creek Trail is a concept developed by Carol Stream Bikes, an organization dedicated to improving bicycling and walking conditions for Carol Stream residents.

The proposed 3.5 mile route follows Klein Creek between the Great Western Trail and Lies Road, linking community parks and local schools. The goal is “creating places in Carol Stream where everyone from a pack of Boy Scouts to your grandma can ride,” says group organizer and Active Trans member Robert Guico.

Carol Stream residents and other interested people are invited to help develop this concept. An public meeting will take place at the Carol Stream Public Library on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Come in at any time to discuss possible routes, as well as best practices for the trail. You can also show your support through an on-line petition.
