Bike Week rides put focus on diversity & equity
Bicycles are simple machines with the power to tackle complex challenges.
These words open the Two Wheels, One City Call to Action released earlier this week by Active Trans, Slow Roll Chicago, Chicago Cycling Club and more than a dozen other community partners.
During Chicago Bike Week (June 12-19), these groups are joining forces to celebrate Chicago's diversity with the Call to Action and two special bike rides — Two Wheels, One City and the Rolling Spokes Ride.
All are invited to sign the Call to Action pledge and join us at both of these free events!
- Two Wheels, One City meets Wednesday, June 17, at Daley Plaza at 5:30 p.m. and starts at 6 p.m., traveling through the Loop, Pilsen and surrounding areas. The ride will head back to Daley Plaza and end at 8:30 p.m. Riders of any level and background are welcome to join.
- The Rolling Spokes Ride is a city-wide coordinated bike ride taking place on Friday, June 19. It starts at various locations in Chicago and ends at Daley Plaza for the Bike to Work Rally. All rides have different starting times, so please check the schedule to find the one nearest you.
Whether you’re able to participate in one of these rides or not, read our Call to Action and take the pledge to act for diversity, inclusiveness, and equity in cycling within Chicago’s communities.
