Did You Know?

Nearly five children are hit by people driving every day in Illinois while walking or biking within one block of a school.

Bike Town Bash, totally gnarly!

We all flashed back to the 80s on Saturday for Bike Town Bash and it was a blast! About 250 people threw down for the party and a good number dressed up in 80s costumes. Our own Steve Buchtel showed up as Molly Ringwald with his wife Laura as Judd Nelson…we had to award them our costume contest winners along with six other folks who went the distance.

There was a lot of dancing. And a lot of 80s craziness. Our executive director, Ron Burke, dressed as Don Johnson from Miami Vice. People enjoyed Goose Island beer (and soda) along with Goose Island Catering’s appetizers and finger food…delicious.

Active Trans honored REI, the Field Museum, SRAM and the Chicago Cubs with Extra Mile awards. The Extra Mile award is presented to organizations that have gone the extra mile to spread our mission and support biking, walking and transit. Congratulations to these four honorees!

We’ve attached a couple of photos here but you can see more on our Facebook page and photo album.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out for the Bash, we hope you enjoyed yourselves.

Party on, dude (and of course, dudettes)!
