Did You Know?

The Chicago region’s current hub-and-spoke transit system leaves nearly half a million Cook County residents stranded in transit deserts.

Active Trans pedals smoothies and welcomes new members at Bike the Drive tent

To all the new members who signed up at our tent at the MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive – thank you for you support and welcome to Active Trans!

With the help of 16 volunteers, we gave away 400 blueberry smoothie samples from the pedal-powered blender and we brought in 57 memberships. The smoothies were a fun way to engage the public in a conversation about healthy, human-powered transportation choices while inviting people to support our mission. As part of the member drive, a local foundation was matching contributions at the tent. We were able to leverage that match to raise a total of over $3,500 in four hours! This is a great boost to our advocacy and program work, which improves conditions for bicycling, walking and transit in our region.

We are grateful to Whole Foods and Treasure Island for generous donations of food and to Uptown Bikes for the blender bike.
