Virtual Fifth Third Bike the Drive

We at Active Transportation Alliance are sad that COVID-19 has paused our in-person experience of Fifth Third Bike the Drive.

While nothing can replace the experience of riding Lakeshore Drive, we are thrilled to hold our first-ever Virtual Fifth Third Bike the Drive!

The Sunday of Memorial Day weekend will still kick off your biking season — albeit a little differently.

Join us at 10am on May 24 for an action-packed program via Microsoft Live Events as we bring you a little magic from the Drive.

A very special thank you to Fifth Third Bank for their continued financial support despite this year’s cancellation. Their partnership is invaluable during these difficult times.

About Fifth Third Bike the Drive and Active Transportation Alliance

Each year on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, Active Trans hosts our largest fundraiser, Fifth Third Bike the Drive – a 20,000-person bike ride on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.

For many people, closing Chicago’s most iconic road to cars and opening it to people biking marks the start of Chicago’s cycling season.

Funds from this event support Active Trans’ work of improving conditions for people who walk, bike, and use public transit in Chicagoland.

Next year’s event will mark the 20th anniversary of this iconic event — and what a return it will be! Click here to be notified when registration opens for 2021.

By participating in the 2020 Virtual Fifth Third Bike the Drive, you’ll be ensuring that Active Trans continues fighting for safe, convenient, and affordable transportation options that support our essential workers and keep transit drivers and riders safe. We want good transportation options to be there for you when the region is able to safely open up again. Learn more about Active Trans here.
