DriveLessLiveMore featured in Chicago Tribune
Last month, Active Trans and RTA launched www.drivelesslivemore.com — a year-round, multimodal commuter challenge website that will boost the ranks of people who choose active transportation options in the region.
Today, a great piece about the new initiative appeared in the Chicago Tribune (account required). The article, The challenge is on to alter commuting habits, 1 by 1, was written by Jon Hilkevitch, the paper's transportation reporter.
In the article, Hilkevitch quotes a lawyer named Steve Shonder who lives in Berwyn and either bikes or takes Metra to his Loop office.
Shonder said he decided to participate in DriveLessLiveMore as a way to encourage others in his office to consider better commuting options.
I hate to proselytize about things, but instead try to lead by example, said Shonder. The commuter challenge will raise awareness and provide an opportunity to shoot an email to a colleague suggesting they take a look at it.
As Hilkevitch mentions, 17 companies and 320 individuals have signed up for the first challenge, which started this week. Read more about DriveLessLiveMore in these recent blog posts.
