Did You Know?

Roughly every three days, one person biking or walking is killed by someone driving a car in the Chicago region.

Water Taxi, to the rescue!

Little did we know while aboard a Wendella cruise last night that we were among heroes. Active Trans hosted a Transportation Mixer social event, in cooperation with Chicago Water Taxi (more than 40,000 fares per month!), to introduce CDOT Commissioner Gabe Klein to transportation planning and engineering professionals from the region. During our fun trip up and down the river, the group of more than 100 was told of the dramatic rescue of a woman from the Chicago River earlier that day by a Chicago Water Taxi crew.

The takeaway? Not only are water taxis an integral part of the public transit system in Chicago, but they save lives on the side. What's not to love?
