Did You Know?
Take our survey on food access and transportation
In the era of COVID-19, social justice is more important than ever.
Yet, during the pandemic, some social justice issues that were once a priority have been sidelined or, in some cases, have gotten lost in the cracks.
The Active Transportation Alliance is picking up one of those subjects that seems to have gotten lost in the cracks: food insecurity and it’s relation to public transit.
Active Trans will be working with local food pantries to explore this issue. To better inform this work — and better inform the people who have the power to change policy — we also want to hear from you.
When considering food insecurity and transit, a few important questions we plan to ask people are:
- How has public transit helped or hurt your food security?
- Do you have to travel to other neighborhoods just to get fresh food?
- If you use transit to access food pantries, does it make you feel vulnerable while doing so?
Take our food access and public transportation survey today! (And please share with your network using this link: https://bit.ly/chifoodtransitsurvey!)
For this project, we will be collecting data, performing community outreach, and gathering survey input. Once we distill this information, we will assess what plans of action would work best for each component affecting food insecurity and transit.
We would like to hear your story. So please share your experience with food insecurity in your neighborhood as it relates to public transit.
Your responses will help guide the best possible solution and will be shared with those who have the power to change policy.
The survey will tentatively close by November 20. Up to 20 people will have the chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card (raffle will be drawn November20.)
Your responses will be kept confidential unless you indicate you would like to share them publicly. If you have any questions, please contact: Rylen Clark (rylen@activetrans.org) or Julia (julia@activetrans.org).
