Can you say 'stimulus'? Adding to all the other benefits of biking, walking and transit that we already know about (better health, safer streets, cleaner environment, world peace………?), a new study conducted in Baltimore, MD shows that construction of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure creates nearly twice as many jobs per dollar spent than traditional road construction.
And once again, Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood is championing the cause, thanks to a group of national advocacy organizations who brought the study to his attention. Read the entire blog.
