Reckless driving victims now included in IL roadside memorial program
Recently, Illinois expanded its roadside memorial program to include victims of reckless driving. The implementing law (supported by Active Transportation Alliance) allows for memorials to be placed near sites of fatal distracted driving crashes.
Active Trans has been working for years to end distracted driving. Last year, we worked with a bi-partisan coalition of legislators to toughen Illinois' laws on using mobile phones and text messaging while driving. We also helped the City of Chicago and several suburbs adopt even stricter local ordinances.
