The Chicago region’s current hub-and-spoke transit system leaves nearly half a million Cook County residents stranded in transit deserts.

Lakefront Trail Conditions 3/25

High winds are driving the waves over the Lakefront Trail in several places this Thursday night. I rode north from Illinois to Ardmore around 10:00 p.m. and was washed over by waves twice (up past my knees with the backwash) at the Oak Street Bend. The area just south of Fullerton is also washing over the trail. There is even some water on the Trail north of the Theater on the Lake!

There is a lot of debris on the Trail in many of the areas in which water is present. Bloweing sand is also a problem between North Ave. and Fullerton.

Please be careful of possible left over debris on Friday morning in the case that waves have subsided but the Park District may have not have thoroughly cleaned the Trail.

On the positive side, restrooms are now open along the Lakefront Trail. My understanding is that the designated date in the contract for the restrooms to be officially open isn't until May, so kudos to the Park District for making this happen this early in the year!
