Did You Know?

Bus riders account for more than 20 percent of people using Lake Shore Drive every day while taking up a fraction of the space that cars do.

January 5 Lakefront Trail Report

The Trail is in good condition except just south of Fullerton and around the Oak Street Bend. At Fullerton you can ride on the dirt trail to the west of the paved trail. At Oak Street, there is no clear dry path around the bend, even after the sun was on the pavement today (I rode this section around 2:00 p.m. on Monday). I walked this section but it was icy in many spots.

There are at least three sections between the Oak Street Bend and Ohio Street with glass, so if you do decide to ride through this area, please watch out for glass. No one wants to be changing a flat tire in the cold weather. It may be a while before the Park District cleans up this glass, as they are not regularly maintaining this section of the Trail at this time.

There also is glass at Randolph St. and quite a bit of sand on the south side around Oakwood (~3900 south). I rode all the way to 59th St on dry pavement.
