Jackson Park tag-team cyclcross race on August 29

Now covered in CX Magazine and Chicago Athlete, XXX Racing – AthletiCo's first-ever tag-team relay cyclocross race, in Jackson Park August 29, is already making waves.  With all the press garnered by the Chicago Cross Cup in 2009, this event aims to kick off 2010 with panache and raise the bar even higher above increased expectations.

Registration is now open and XXX Racing has published a race bible.  The first whistle blow is at 10am, the fun will continue through the day until about 4pm, and includes events for all catagories, even co-ed.  A license is required, but day-of permits will be available.

As if only one ground-breaking bike event wasn't enough, Active Trans is pushing the day towards epic status by holding their prime fall event, The Boulevard-Lakefront Tour, earlier that morning on the same day.  Don't view this as a conflict, but rather, an opportunity.  Active Trans has even named a BLT discount code after XXX-Racing; enter XXX5 when registering at www.boulevardtour.org for $5 off.

Two of the three available routes through Chicago's historic boulevards are under 35 miles, and can be completed in  time to make most of the Jackson Park races.  In fact, the southern end of the 32-mile route is less than a mile from the park. Even better, first time racers can enjoy the post-BLT party, featuring music and beer, and have plenty of time to make the beginner and co-ed categories, which are later in the afternoon.

Use ink, not pencil, and put this great day in Chicago cycling, August 29, into your calendar now.
