Did You Know?

Chicago’s first protected bike lane on Kinzie St. increased ridership by 55 percent without increasing traffic congestion for cars.

if you live in one of these communities, you can help tip the scales

Active Trans is very close to securing the support we need to pass legislation that would allow the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to use state motor fuel tax revenue for transit, bicycle and pedestrian projects.

We've zeroed in on a handful of communities where we need state senators to support our bill:

  • Crystal Lake
  • Westmont
  • Barrington
  • Sycamore
  • Burbank
  • Bloomingdale
  • Lemont

If you live in one of these communities, please call your Ill. senator and ask him or her to vote yes on SB 1258! Do you know people who live in those communities? If so, ask them to help.

If passed, this legislation will mark the first time motor fuel tax would fund healthy, sustainable transportation improvements. Learn more about the bill here.
