Fox River Bridge Ribbon-Cutting Scheduled For December
Active Trans is excited about the completion of the Stearns Road Bridge Corridor. This 4.6 mile corridor is the largest infrastructure project in the history of Kane County. It features a new multi-use path bridge over the Fox River, 216 acres of restored natural areas, and seven miles of new multi-use trails.
Bicyclists are invited to take part in the Grand Opening Ceremonies on Wednesday, December 15. Riders are to gather at the McLean Boulevard/New Stearns Road intersection in South Elgin at 9:15 a.m. sharp. From there, they will join a vehicle procession heading east on Stearns Road to the ribbon cutting ceremony at the new bridge. Afterwards, bicyclists may cross over to access local and regional trails.
The event will be broadcast live to Kane County websites and covered by news media. Please see the attached map for the gathering location and parking lots. For more details, contact Mike Sullivan, Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator for Kane County, at 630-444-3142.
Come out and help celebrate this great new facility!
