Bicycle clubs nurture novice cyclists
Rebecca Clancy, a TribLocal columnist and member of the Elmhurst Bicycle Club, offers an enthusiastic assessment of the club and its members.
Whether you are brand new to cycling or reviving a past interest, bicycle clubs can get you started with rides and activities geared for beginners.
In addition to the Elmhurst club, there are friendly, supportive clubs throughout the western suburbs. Check out groups in Carol Stream, Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Oak Park, Wheaton, and the Fox Valley, and get cycling!
Visit our collection of web links for contact information for many of these clubs.

Your tax-deductible donation supports the important work that Active Trans does throughout the region
I want our city budget and policies to prioritize the safety and mobility of our most vulnerable travelers. Active Transportation Alliance’s work advances this goal through their campaigns to improve public transit, win dedicated stated state funding for alternative modes, and advocate for safer crosswalks and bike lanes.
