Only 0.7 percent of federal transportation funds are spent on improving pedestrian facilities.

A Very Happy Thanksgiving

Well it's that time of year when we pull out the nice silverware and eat our fill.  The Friday after Thanksgiving is also one of the most congested and car crazy days of the year.  Our members will do their part as they often biking, walking and taking transit to do their shopping.  Or perhaps we will take a hike, stroll, or long bike ride instead of shopping.  One of the things that I like to do is ride my bicycle to one of the big box stores and witness the nightmare that the parking lot becomes while I demonstrate how easy it is to ride in, park by bicycle and shop.

It is also the time of year to be thankful.  I'm very thankful of all the support we've received over the past year.  Our volunteers, members and donors have been fantastic.  Our partners in municipalities like the City of Chicago, Lan-Oak Park District, Oak Park, Evanston, Schaumburg, Blue Island, Palos Heights, DuPage County, and Homewood keep us going and help drive our vision for a region that reduces its carbon footprint due to transportation use.  Our staff are unbelievable in their passions and their energies.  Thank you to everyone who has made this year so special and will help to make next year even better.
