Repairing Potholes and Utility Cut-outs in Chicago

The Chicago Department of Transportation reiterated at the Mayor's Bicycle Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday that if there are repairs needed to the bicycle network in Chicago, call 311.  It is the most efficient way to get the work started and tracked.  When you call, make sure you have the closest address to the problem and ask for a reference # so it can be traced later.  More information on the 311 system and to make direct requests on line, click here.

Examples of problems that are good to call in:

  • Potholes in a bike lane, or any lane of travel you use.
  • Utility cut outs that have not been repaired (when a construction project cuts into the pavement a rectangle, fills it in partially).
  • Missing signs or incorrect signs.
  • Worn paint or symbols.
