Need some help with your sidewalks?

Now that some of the snow is gone, you may be noticing some gaps or damage to the sidewalks in your neighborhood, or maybe they have been that way for a while.  Either way the City of Chicago wants to help fix them.

The Chicago Department of Transportation builds and maintains hundreds of miles of sidewalks around the city and sometimes they could use a bit of help.  That's where the Shared Cost Sidewalk Program comes in.  Property owners pay a fixed price per square foot ($3) of sidewalk and the city does the rest.  The price is well below what a private contractor would charge but most importantly it will help ensure that anyone walking past your property can do so safely and comfortably.  

It's a first come first serve deal, so make sure to submit your application on the city's 311 system early (phone or online).  You'll need the building owner/occupant's complete name, contact number and full building address.

I'm sure more snow is coming but get on the list early, summer is right around the cold, snowy corner.
