Each year for the Bike Commuter Challenge, team leaders from organizations around Chicagoland recruit their colleagues to compete in the big bike commuting event.
This year's event, presented by Freeman Kevenides Law, was held for TWO weeks, allowing more trips logged and more competition.
Midway through the challenge Active Trans with SRAM and World Bicycle Relief, hosted Rock the Rooftop, a fun party that took place on the roof of the building SRAM occupies.

Last week, Active Trans joined a passionate rally held by the Logan Square Neighborhood Association (LSNA) to show our support for the 606 affordable housing ordinance.
The event began with residents giving testimonies at Humboldt Park United Methodist Church (pictured) and concluded with a powerful demonstration on the 606 trail.
As we promote trail projects, it has become clear that more affordable housing units are needed to ensure residents with low or fixed incomes are not displaced by increased property values.

The most frequent question after Active Trans gives a presentation on our vision for a continuous Chicago River Trail is: "How will you fund this project?"
While it's an important question to ask, it's also important to keep in mind that many cities did not have resources on hand to pay for an entire trail as they were drawing up plans for it.
So they worked with available funding and found creative ways to add segments.

Since 2015, Active Trans Bikeways for All campaign has been mobilizing members and supporters across the city to push for a seamless, low-stress and equitable bike network for Chicago.
Our Bikeways for All vision promotes three types of low-stress bikeways we’re working to see implemented around town: protected bike lanes, urban trails and neighborhood greenways.

More than 60 people showed up at Arc’Teryx Chicago in Wicker Park to rally for a safer Milwaukee Avenue on a recent humid evening.
Changes to make this corridor crash free are long overdue. As one of the busiest streets for walking and biking in Chicago, Milwaukee Ave. has had an unacceptably high crash rate between 2011 and 2015, with 195 crashes that resulted in people biking getting injured and 56 pedestrians getting injured, along with one pedestrian fatality.
