Support better biking, walking and transit

Biking to work more than tripled in Chicago from 2000 to 2012.

After years of community advocacy, CTA worked with community partners and agreed to restore the #11 Lincoln Avenue bus for a limited time.

The #11 operates on Lincoln Avenue between Howard/McCormick and the Fullerton Red/Brown/Purple stop, running weekdays from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm every 16-22 minutes.

The Lincoln Avenue corridor is a vibrant commercial district and losing the route hurt neighborhood mobility and economic activity.

A diverse community of supporters organized to restore the #11 bus, including local residents, businesses, senior groups and elected officials. Neighborhood chambers of commerce in Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Northcenter and Lincoln Square-Ravenswood stepped up after businesses in the corridor reported declines in sales. 47th Ward Alderman Ameya Pawar led a coalition of elected officials including 43rd Ward Alderman Michele Smith, Illinois Senate President John Cullerton, State Sen. Heather Steans, State Reps. Ann Williams and Greg Harris, and Cook County Commissioners Bridget Gainer and John Fritchey.

The #11 bus is not back for good - yet. CTA is piloting the route for six months and the route needs to meet ridership targets to become permanent.

Active Trans is working with the neighborhood chambers and other community partners to help promote the service and ensure it meets ridership targets. So grab your friends, get on board the #11 and stay tuned for more ways you can help!
